Party and Society, by Cedric de Leon

Political parties are central to democratic life, yet there is no standard definition to describe them or the role they occupy. "Voter-centered" theoretical approaches suggest that parties are the mere recipients of voter interests and loyalties. "Party-centered" approaches, by contrast, envision parties that polarize, democratize, or dominate society. In addition to offering isolated and competing notions of democratic politics, such approaches are also silent on the role of the state and are unable to account for organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the African National Congress, which exhibit characteristics of parties, states, and social movements simultaneously.

In this timely book, Cedric de Leon examines the ways in which social scientists and other observers have imagined the relationship between parties and society. He introduces and critiques the full range of approaches, using enlivening comparative examples from across the globe. Cutting through a vast body of research, de Leon offers a succinct and lively analysis that outlines the key thinking in the field, placing it in historical and contemporary context. The resulting book will appeal to students of sociology, political science, social psychology, and related fields.

Review
"This creative, well-organized, and well-written book is going to make important contributions to not only the analysis of parties but to the social sciences in general. Party & Society blends in-depth coverage of the field, criticism, and original argumentation. Students and experts fortunate enough to read this book will get a fuller sense of party politics than they ever had before."
Cihan Tuðal, University of California, Berkeley

"Party & Society is a map and a brief. It offers a much-needed guide to the plethora of classical and contemporary perspectives on political parties in both sociology and political science. But it also adds up to an important argument: if sociologically minded students of parties wish to present a robust alternative to 'voter-centered approaches' in accounting for the observable complexities of political life, they would do well to take seriously the idea that parties are by turns cause and consequence of states and societies. This book should be required reading for all political sociologists."
Anthony S. Chen, Northwestern University

Thoroughly revised and updated, this new edition of Blogging provides an accessible study of a now everyday phenomenon and places it in a historical, theoretical and contemporary context. The second edition takes into account the most recent research and developments and provides current analyses of new tools for microblogging and visual blogging.

Jill Walker Rettberg discusses the ways blogs are integrated into today’s mainstream social media ecology, where comments and links from Twitter and Facebook may be more important than the network between blogs that was significant five years ago, and questions the shift towards increased commercialization and corporate control of blogs. The new edition also analyses how smart phones with cameras and social media have led a shift towards more visual emphasis in blogs, with photographs and graphics increasingly foregrounded.

Authored by a scholar-blogger, this engaging book is packed with examples that show how blogging and related genres are changing media and communication. It gives definitions and explains how blogs work, shows how blogs relate to the historical development of publishing and communication and looks at the ways blogs structure social networks.

Oil, by Gavin Bridge, Philippe Le Billon

Oil pulses through our daily lives. It is the plastic we touch, the food we eat, and the way we move. Oil politics in the twentieth century was about the management of abundance, state power and market growth. The legacy of this age of plenty includes declining conventional oil reserves, volatile prices, climate change, and enduring poverty in many oil rich countries. The oil sector is now in need of reform. Yet no one seems at the helm, leaving a vital source of energy at the whim of dictators, speculators and corporate operators, and our societies locked into unsustainable growth models.

In this in-depth primer to the world's wealthiest industry, authors Gavin Bridge and Philippe Le Billon take a fresh look at the contemporary geopolitics of oil. Going beyond simple assertions of peak oil and an oil curse, they point to an industry reordered by internationalized state oil companies, Asian consumerism shifting demand, the insecurities and violent assertiveness of declining powers, and the dilemmas of post-oil energy transition.

As a new geopolitics of oil emerges, the need for effective global oil governance becomes imperative. Praising the growing influence of civil society and attentive to the institutionalization of producer-consumer cooperation, this book identifies challenges and opportunities to curtail price volatility, curb demand and the growth of dirty oil, de-carbonise energy systems, and improve governance in oil producing countries.

Michael Watts, University of California, Berkeley

"This book is a 'must-read' antidote to current arguments about the scarcity of oil. Not only do Bridge and Le Billon comprehensively demolish those claims, they positively submit a twenty-first century 'beyond oil's prospective' for the future."
Peter R. Odell, Erasmus University, Rotterdam

"The book Oil published by leading resource geographers Gavin Bridge and Philippe Le Billon in the 'Resources' series of Polity provides the most up-to-date and well-balanced analysis of the challenges faced by the global petroleum industry today and their implications for social studies of energy affairs. The book offers an empirically grounded and conceptually informed critique without being heavily immersed in critical geographical theory. Oil is an essential reading for anyone interested in the contemporary politics of hydrocarbons and delivers much needed teaching material for both undergraduate and graduate courses on extractive economies."

The Nature of a Highly Political Commodity and Resource
By Jerry Richardson
_Oil_ in the Polity Resource Series is an excellent introduction and overview of geographical and geopolitical oil issues. The book came out two years ago, but is still very up to date. This book covers some points that other books on oil don't. A key example of this is the observation that oil demand is rising rapidly in the Far East, but the bulk of oil supply is in the Middle East and most of the processing and refining capacity is in the West. This is a key point to remember in debates about the economics and politics of oil and, increasingly, natural gas. Other books and papers I have read on this subject do not bring up this point explicitly.
The authors of this book are both resource geographers and bring the insights of their field to the subject. The book isn't particularly technical, but it is dense and slower reading than other books covering the same or similar material. This book is very well written for such a short yet comprehensive treatment.
This book also covers China's approach to energy issues and efforts to govern oil on the global level unusually well.
A book that goes very well with this one is _Myths of the Oil Boom: American National Security in a Global Energy Market_ because it covers the security effects of the US shale oil revolution in more detail than _Oil_ does. The authors of these two books share a similar outlook on the subject matter, also.

A lot of information on oil
By Sukru Tikves
There is comprehensive information on oil in this book. Although not too thick (around ~200 pages), it takes some effort to read and understand the stuff. However it really was worth my time.

The authors go into a lot of topics about oil, including its history, its effect on the societies, the economy, the environment, and the daily life of people. Although the language is a little bit dry (even wars are mentioned casually), and there is a huge information dump (lots of charts and tables, and info boxes), given the scope of the book, they are understandable.

Overall this might be a recommended reference if you're interested in the geopolitics of oil, or how the future energy sources might shape the world.

The History and Politics of Oil
By Frederick S. Goethel
Oil is a product that is endemic in our everyday lives, yet few people really understand just how reliant we are on this vital substance. Not only does it power our vehicles, and form the basis of the plastics we use in everything from water bottles to computers, but it also is the basis of wars and geopolitical conflicts around the globe.

This book, while heavy and dense to read, presnts a good overview of the history of oil, the conflicts it produces, the uses for the product and the future with a dwindling supply. Although I felt like I was reading and introductory textbook on the subject, it is still a valuable read.

On Love: A Philosophy for the Twenty-First Century, by Luc Ferry

All the great ideals that gave life meaning in earlier societies - God, the nation, revolution, freedom, democracy - are in disarray today, questioned by many and rejected by those who have lost faith in them. But there is another value, rooted in the birth of the modern family and in the passage from traditional to modern marriage, that has transformed our lives in profound and often unrecognized ways: love. It affects not only our personal lives but many aspects of our social and collective life too, from art and education to politics.

In this book Luc Ferry shows how the quiet rise of love as the central value in modern societies has created a new principle of meaning and a new definition of the good life that requires a completely different kind of philosophical thinking. It forms the basis for a new philosophy for the twenty-first century and a new kind of humanism for the modern world - not a humanism of reason and rights, but a humanism of solidarity and sympathy. The ideal that this new humanism realizes is no longer that of nationalisms and revolutions, of the perpetrating of organized violence in the name of deadly principles that are pursued over and above humanity. Rather, it is about preparing and ensuring a future for those we love most: our future generations.

"Highly recommended - Ferry challenges readers to consider love as no longer lurking on the periphery of philosophic consciousness, but instead as providing a new definition of the good life."
Choice

"On Love is thrilling - fireworks of ideas, flashing sabres, and a hell of a good gallop."
Times Higher Education

"The great value of Ferry's work lies in his vitality of thought. His celebration of love guarantees that philosophy will remain alive and well throughout the 21st century. And that, to many of us, is something to cherish."
Wichita Eagle

"With his usual clarity, rigour, and intelligence, Luc Ferry in his new book tackles the daunting topic of love, its history in modern culture and society, and its role and benefits for the present and the future. For Ferry, love offers not only the possibility of surpassing the broken ideals of the past, but of founding a new humanism in the century ahead. Highly recommended."
Richard J. Golsan, Texas A&M University

"With great clarity and an extraordinary sense of historical synthesis, Luc Ferry traces the genealogy of love in the West, right up to its contemporary status where it has triumphed as the apotheosis of our civilization."
Pascal Bruckner, Le Nouvel Observateur

A Humanism of Love
By Robin Friedman
The French philosopher Luc Ferry (b. 1951) served as French Minister of Education from 2002 -- 2004 under Prime Minister Jean Pierre Raffarin. The author of many books, Ferry is known for his development of a philosophy based on secular humanism. My first reading of Ferry was of his new book, "On Love: A Philosophy for the Twenty-First Century" (2013). It is a highly ambitious, suggestive work in which Ferry outlines a philosophical approach of secular humanism based upon love rather than upon reason and law. Ferry suggests that reason and law formed the basis of secular humanism during the Enlightenment. The book is largely in the form of an essay and a conversation. As such it is informal and tends to ramble. At times, Ferry engages in discussion with another French philosopher, Claude Capelier, who also wrote a Preface to the book. The discussion portions of the book are usually insightful but occasionally distracting. Andrew Brown translated the book from the French. The book is lively and reads well while conveying complex ideas.

The book is short but dense. It begins with a provocative introduction titled "A Brief History of the Meaning of Life." Ferry faults much contemporary philosophy for avoiding fundamental questions. The first goal of his book is to establish philosophy as a secular discipline which provides for "a non-religious quest for the good life." At the outset, then, Ferry pits philosophy as an alternative to revealed religion as a source for finding meaning in one's life. Meaning is developed from the inside, so to speak, by a person recognizing what is valuable, rather than imposed transcendentally by God.

The second of Ferry's two major goals is to establish love as the main source by which people today find meaning in their lives. Ferry's claim straddles between description -- people in fact find love as the source of meaning -- and prescription -- or what Ferry believes people should do. The "love" to which Ferry refers is, in essence, romantic love, the love between a man and a woman or, indeed, one person for another person. Love is the basis for a meaningful life, for Ferry.

Most of the book develops this claim through a variety of frequently extraordinary (some are less so) philosophical, historical, and anthropological analyses. Ferry sees broadly five competing philosophical positions beginning with the ancient Greeks, in which human happiness was based on conformity to the physical universe, proceeding through Christianity, which replaced the universe with the will of God, through the Enlightenment and secular humanism. The fourth stage, Nietzsche and continuing through Heidegger and beyond "deconstructed" the metaphysics of the Enlightenment and of religion. The fifth stage, which Ferry announces, is based on a philosophy of love of a person without metaphysical trappings.

Ferry supports his philosophical account with a fairly straightforward account of the nature of romantic love. The key moment came from when marriages moved from arrangements, based on religion, family, and economics, to romantic choice, the feeling of one person for another. (Ferry identifies this shift as the source of the movement for same sex marriage, but he does not dwell on the point.) The shift to marriage based on love and choice was part of a change to a culture of personal autonomy.

In a long discussion in the book, Ferry tries to show, with mixed success, how a philosophy based on the primary character of romantic love gets reflected in political institutions. His analysis shifts quickly from one's romantic partner to the children of the union. Modern couples are fanatically devoted to their offspring, Ferry argues with a good deal of force. Then he argues somewhat less convincingly for a projection from the personal to the political sphere -- making the world a better place for one's children and, by extension, for the children of others.

Romantic love, in the person of one's beloved and one's children supersede for Perry abstractions for which too many people in the past were willing to die. These abstractions include primarily patriotism on the right and revolution on the left. Commitments of people have moved over time from the abstract and metaphysical, such as nature or God, to the intimately personal, a change Ferry endorses.

As a former Minister of Education, Ferry is at his best in discussing his claim that people have become child-centered as it relates to education. His discussion becomes textured, drawing on elements of the prior philosophical stages he identified to combat certain excesses of child-centeredness. In a final section, Ferry discusses how some of the best modern art and literature rise past the prevailing philosophy of relativism and deconstruction to support what he sees as a love-centered humanism. This discussion tends to become arid, but I was pleased to learn that Ferry shares my admiration for the American novelist Philip Roth. Ferry says that in Roth, "we're no longer in the first humanism of reason and law, nor in pure deconstruction, but in what is a much wider and deeper approach to human being."

The book manages to be engaging, polemical, and learned. It offers challenging claims that might help readers understand themselves differently than they did before reading the book. I was pleased to have the opportunity to get to know Ferry's work through the Amazon Vine program.

Not what I was hoping for
By julesinrose
This subject matter interests me greatly, but I was (rightly) reticent to order this book. I generally find Western philosophy hard to read, and that translated from the French even more difficult. However, I believe that that academes have pretty much abandoned discussions that may relate to the lived life and true meaning and am delighted when any intellectuals put aside science and so-called "political science" to think about modern life.

The introduction is excellent and thought provoking, but I didn't expect the conversational format, and probably would have passed on the book if I had understood that this is the presentation. I'd love to listen, but to read? Simply not my cup of tea. And to indite myself further, much of this book sails over my head; I do not have an advanced degree in philosophy and many of references are lost on me in spite of my being fairly well read.

I found myself arguing with the author straight away, but I don't review books on their viewpoints. It is interesting to note, however. I am well read in Eastern philosophy, and from the outset, I can say that a worldview based on love (though the word compassion might be used instead) is not in the least bit new. If I had been willing or able to read on, maybe I'd find the nod to this, but I suspect not.

So, I don't feel qualified to write this review, and one could fairly say that I am not. However, Amazon Vine offered this book to readers, one could even say "average readers," and out of immense curiosity, I bit. There's a lot of interesting stuff here, so I give it three stars and shame facedly say I just couldn't wade through this dense conversation between two French intellectuals. If you are well versed and well read in that which Western academia deems crucial to understandings of art, culture, and society, you will probably enjoy (and understand) this book far more than I. Hence, the middling review.

all you need is love, love is all you need
By Case Quarter
luc ferry describes what he refers to as the four principles of philosophy: cosmology (the homeric epics), religion (judeo-christian), humanism, and deconstructionism, and provides a historical overview of each principle, before introducing his fifth principle, love, as a second humanism which ushers in the good life. the first humanism was on the right track, but, burdened by rigidity of ethical weaknesses, inevitably, fell under the hammers of deconstructionism.

deconstructionism for ferry began with nietzsche and heidegger and continued through to derrida. for ferry, deconstructionism is like good and bad cholesterol. the deconstructionism he attributes to nietzsche and heidegger is the good cholesterol and that practiced by derrida is the bad cholesterol. ferry asserts that the second humanism is in no danger, as was the first humanism, from deconstructionism. love as a philosophical principle has something for all persons and all seasons. the love ferry offers is nonreligious, friendly to believer and atheist alike. and what's more, his love is grounded on the family. in the footsteps of kant, ferry suggests a new categorical imperative: `Act in such a way that you can desire to see the decisions you take being applied also to the people you love most.' love as a second humanism `is fully open to "otherness", to the diversity of civilizations and which...cultivates, promotes and enhances a much wider range of the existence in which human beings can ... "realize themselves" `.

luc ferry's audience is the european population in general and the french people in particular. europe, he shares with his audience, is a superior civilization to all others; `it has bestowed on mankind an unparalleled culture of autonomy...by staging human daily life by means of art'. the united states falls short on two counts: slavery was not able to be abolished without waging war, and no original arts forms were ever created.

the book is structured as a conversation between ferry and claude capelier, who is unknown to me. the tone is so colloquial that at moments ferry is defensive, and other moments reveal a crotchety side of the reformer. much of what is nebulous was probably covered in his previous books, including personal battles in the public sphere and the larger troubled spots where his balm can be applied.

not wanting to appear xenophobic, I'm giving this book a fourth star.

The Meaning of Cooking, by Jean-Claude Kaufmann

In 1785 James Boswell and Dr Johnson were trying to come up with a way of distinguishing human beings from animals. ?The beasts have memory, judgement, and all the faculties and passions of our mind, in a certain degree,' said Boswell, ?but no beast is a cook.'

Cooking is central to our lives, despite the fact that it never received the attention from serious scholars it might have had Boswell's definition caught on. The kitchen is in many ways the heart of the home, and the dining table is the family's little theatre where we all act out our parts. It has its script (?how has your day been?') and it is the setting for both the pleasures and the crises of couples and family life. Having to sit facing each other brings out the best and the worst in us. Eating a meal is an ordeal by truth, and it reveals the true state of our conjugal and parental relationships.

In this rich and highly entertaining book the French sociologist Jean-Claude Kaufmann takes us into kitchens and dining rooms and deciphers the meaning of food, cooking and eating in the lives of families and couples. We get inside cooks' heads and come to know their innermost - and often contradictory - thoughts. Should they rustle up a quick and simple meal, or create something special? That's a difficult question, as they are forging social relationships as well as making meals. Through this meticulous exploration of the everyday, Kaufmann brings out the astonishing ways in which we create our most meaningful relationships with our lovers, spouses and offspring through the ordinary acts of creating and consuming food.

Review
"A family meal is a social construct more complicated than the tasks involved would suggest, and its study is back where sexuality was before Freud. In fact, Kaufmann reminds us, historically there have been more taboos concerning food than sex."
The International Herald Tribune

"By showing how the preparation and consumption of food form the basis of our closest personal relationships, Kaufmann provides a persuasively unromantic view of why cooking matters."
Alan Warde, University of Manchester

Diamonds (Resources), by Ian Smillie

Diamonds are a multi-billion dollar business involving some of the world’s largest mining companies, a million and a half artisanal diggers, more than a million cutters and polishers and a huge retail jewellery sector. But behind the sparkle of the diamond lies a murkier story, in which rebel armies in Angola, Sierra Leone and the Congo turned to diamonds to finance their wars. Completely unregulated, so-called blood diamonds became the perfect tool for money laundering, tax evasion, drug-running and weapons-trafficking.

Diamonds brings together for the first time all aspects of the diamond industry. In it, Ian Smillie, former UN Security Council investigator and leading figure in the blood diamonds campaign, offers a comprehensive analysis of the history and structure of today’s diamond trade, the struggle for effective regulation and the challenges ahead. There is, he argues, greater diversification and competition than ever before, but thanks to the success of the Kimberley Process, this coveted and prestigious gem now represents a fragile but renewed opportunity for development in some of the world’s poorest nations. This part of the diamond story has rarely been told.

Review
"Fifteen years ago Ian Smillie looked at a diamond and saw blood, and he rallied civil society and the diamond industry to address the blood diamond challenge. In Diamonds he cuts his way into the myriad facets of the diamond story — from geology, to mythology, to development and more. Diamonds is information-packed and inspirational, as is Smillie."
Stephen D'Esposito, president of RESOLVE, and former director of Greenpeace International and EARTHWORKS

"Ian Smillie examines the messy diamond trade from the soil upward in this valuable book. He knows far more about diamonds than any dealer, and he cuts through decades of haze to tell you the truth."
Tom Zoellner, author of The Heartless Stone: A Journey Through the World of Diamonds, Deceit and Desire

"Ian Smillie has produced a remarkably concise yet insightful look into the diamond industry – science, commerce, conflict, activism, Kimberley Process regulation and the ongoing challenge of international development – based on his years of first-hand experience on the front lines."
Matt Runci, retired CEO of Jewelers of America, and founding board chair of Responsible Jewellery Council

"The author's eloquent and accessible style prevents the material from seeming dry, and his discussions of the potential for socioeconomic benefits in poorer countries and the complex political, social, and economic issues surrounding blood diamonds are particularly insightful. This informative primer will be highly valuable to readers interested in geology and earth sciences, business and economics, and history and sustainability studies."

About the Author
Ian Smillie currently chairs the Board of the Diamond Development Initiative, a non-governmental organization working to improve the condition of Africa’s 1.5 million artisanal diamond diggers. He has written extensively on the issue of conflict diamonds and was directly involved in the negotiations leading to the creation of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.

Interesting
By Debbie
This book might better be titled, "A Report of the State of the Diamond Mining Industry." While the tone was conversational, it mainly focused on the problems in diamond mining controls. The author talked about the different countries involved in diamond mining, polishing, and sells and the history of how the current system developed. He described the two types of diamond mines and why one type is so hard to control. He gave examples of how these anyone-can-mine diamonds often create situations where the workers (many of whom are mining illegally) are abused and how these unregulated diamonds can be used to fund military conflicts ("blood/conflict diamonds").

He explained in detail how a group was set up to regulate diamonds to prevent conflict diamonds from being sold and told stories of how this group rarely enforced the process they came up with. He ended by explaining how a group he is now involved with is trying to fix some of the human abuses in the system. For example, they created a process were illegal miners can be registered. They also want to create a certification process like the "FairTrade" system to ensure confidence in the background of gem diamonds.

Even with the author's efforts, it seems to me that there is so much abuse in the system, I will never buy or wear a natural diamond gem. Since the selling potential of gem diamonds is based upon advertising that has convinced people diamonds are desirable, I don't quite understand why he's trying to save the "romantic" advertising image of diamonds. He knows all of the likely problems that will prevent real change because he's been involved in the attempts to make changes. Perhaps his report was too effective in convincing me. :)

A good introduction, if you know nothing on the subject
By Tethys
Overall, I think this is a good introduction to the history of Diamonds, their relationship to African politics, and the problems associated with their mining and trade. There are many good books on this subject, however, so I find little reason to argue it stands out.
As a geoscientist, I am bothered by the description of diamond emplacement and how kimberlite pipes work in the first chapter. The author clearly doesn't understand that dykes are vertical intrusions and sills are horizontal intrusions. I cringed a bit wondering if some future student would read this, get confused and try to argue their wrong answer with me because it's published in a book. For the record kimberlite pipes are vertical intrusions, so the use of the word dyke is not wrong, only his definition of the word.
Beyond this factual error, the book is a good review of the origin of the diamond trade, colonialism, war, DeBeer's monopoly on diamonds, etc. The book is easily readable in a couple of hours and might be a good way to convince your spouse that a diamond is not a healthy expression of love. In reality, synthetic diamonds likely hold an important key to resolving much of the diamond problem and they are far better than they were 10 yrs ago, but this is only briefly discussed.

The not so attractive side of Diamonds
By Sussman
This is a detailed book that covers the history of diamonds and the industry that surrounds it. The author looks at the troubling fact that regulation in its current form does not work. Other considerations that are looked at are such considerations as the geopolitical sway that covers diamonds. The narrative is good straightforward read. The reader is not inundated with technical terms, and yet you are given the salient knowledge on the framework of the diamond industry.

The topic of `conflict diamonds' comes to the fore. The reader is given a good breakdown of the reality of the subject. You also hear about how people avoid taxation through the use of diamonds as way of storing cash, and the way in which money laundering also use diamonds to move cash quickly easily across the world. For me this was a real eye opener - a real primer, if you will, on the world of power politics that surrounds the industry of diamonds.

Review
"A stimulating introduction."
Times Higher Education

"The last chapter alone would make Digital Media Ethics a worthy addition to the shelf of any journalism ethics teacher ... teachers of journalism and media ethics are sure to find much in it to enrich their own understanding and teaching."
Rhodes Journalism Review

"Offers a clear, concise and appropriately simple introduction to digital media ethics for students of diverse disciplinary backgrounds. Extensive effort has been made to enliven the text with vivid and potentially emotive examples (rape rooms, infant suicide bombers, slavery), to be inclusive of varied philosophical traditions, and to develop questions that facilitate collaborative reflection and debate."
Media, Culture & Society

"In Digital Media Ethics, Charles Ess provides a unique and timely look at pressing issues facing all of us in an interconnected, global society. The text is philosophically inclusive, well researched, and clearly presented. It is a goldmine for classrooms across disciplines, as it offers many opportunities for critical reflection and engagement. A brilliant collection of the theoretical, practical, and pedagogical."
Elizabeth Buchanan, University of Wisconsin

"Digital Media Ethics is the most insightful and useful overview and analysis of the ethical dimensions of new media. It examines critical issues like privacy and copyright but it also delves deeply into matters of online behaviors and consequences. While the topics are complex, the writing is clear, and there are very useful exercises and discussion questions with each chapter, making it a very useful book for teaching. I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in learning new ways to think about the principles and values that may guide online interactions."
Steve Jones, University of Illinois at Chicago

"This book is a concise and rich introduction to digital media ethics. Ess combines a sophisticated consideration of how philosophies of ethics apply to new media with grounded and insightful case studies of hot button issues in the current digital environment."
Nancy Baym, University of Kansas

With no ability to view or search by page number, a textbook is worthless. If you're told to read page 200-246, how do i know where that is out of 6000 "locations"? Match the page numbers to the printed page in the physical book.
