Repetative book without much substance

Murthy analyzes social media communication through the lens of sociological theory and practice. While I made some applicable connections with this required text for my graduate studies in professional writing, I did not find it very helpful in learning about effective strategies for digital media engagement, especially since I already use social networks for business purposes. (It should be noted that a classmate without social networking experience also expressed that the book lacks tangible information.)
'Twitter' was published in 2013 and cites sources through 2011. The resulting gaps in information about the availability of digital technology and recent advancements on Twitter and Facebook are evident in Murthy's arguments. Murthy indeed makes some good points but overemphasizes them throughout. Likewise, he seems to get on a soapbox about certain topics and introduces new information during his "conclusions." Because of its lack of substance and its persistent repetition of content and word usage, this book would be more effective at half its current length.
All in all, I am not that impressed.

Great resource

this is really quite a wonderful resource! I am currently conducted my senior thesis on activism and social media, and Murthy really dives into what makes twitter tick.
He has a keen observance of the website, and is able to aptly put all it has to offer into words.
highly recommend to everyone!

school required textbook

Shipped quickly and the condition was better than expected. I don't really have a personal opinion on the book as it's a required text that is needed for a class I'm taking.
